Soaring in the skies while dinosaurs ruled the land, Pteranodon is a pterosaur, or flying reptile. Unlike other pterosaurs, Pteranodon had a toothless beak, similar to those of modern birds. Its most distinctive feature is the crest on its skull, which was probably used for display.
